Bird Track Springs
Location: Exit #252 off Interstate 84 to Highway 244 toward Starkey, 4 1/2 miles
10 Tent/trailer, restrooms. Nature trail provides excellent bird watching opportunities.

Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area and Nature Trail
Location: Exit 268 from I-84. Six miles west of La Grande off Foothill Road.
One of the largest remaining wetlands in Northeast Oregon. The Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife has developed a 3,208 acre viewing and preservation area for birds and animals. Take a camera when you travel throughout the county. You'll see resident and migrating wildlife of all sizes. The foot trail, viewing platform and auto tour are accessed from Peach Road, a gravel road off OR Hwy. 203, across the railroad bridge from Hot Lake.

Winter Wildlife Viewing Tours
Location: Exit #285 off Interstate 84 at North Powder, Oregon (25 miles southeast of La Grande) and follow the brown wildlife viewing signs west toward the mountains.
Watch and learn about Rocky Mountain Elk from a horse drawn wagon at the elk feeding site on Anthony Creek , at the base of the beautiful Blue Mountains near North Powder, Oregon. The rides are offered weekends from mid-December through February. Fifty to 150 elk (including many branch-antlered bulls) generally feed at the site, giving people an excellent opportunity to see and photograph the wild animals up close. $7 adults, $5 Children 12 and under.  www.tnthorsemanship.com
