The Blue Turtle Gallery recently opened in downtown La Grande. The gallery exclusively features artists in Union, Baker, Wallowa and Grant Counties. Sandy Young, the owner, remodeled the former Laurence’s Jewelry store at 1124 Adams Avenue on the northwest corner of Adams and Depot. The gallery opened in February and offers art, jewelry and fine handcrafts. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Sandy has 15 years of retail experience as the owner of Sandy’s Fashions, a popular downtown boutique in the eighties and ninties, and has been designing jewelry for 15 years. She recently began creating art from gourds. Local artists interested in having their work shown in Blue Turtle Gallery are encouraged to come to the gallery between 10 and 4 after for applications and more information.
